Tips for Your First Session (Conseils pour Commencer)

Learning a new language can be challenging — that's exactly why we built Lingua Bud. Use these tips to make your first conversation a success. If you want to visit our French Hub page, click here.

  • 💬 Follow the conversation below and say each phrase slowly if necessary — there's no rush!
  • 🔄 Ask your Lingua Bud to repeat a phrase if you didn't understand it.
  • 🎤 Ask your Lingua Bud if you can record your conversation and listen back to it later.
  • 📅 Set up a schedule to practice as much as possible. We suggest 10 minutes a day to start — 5 minutes in English and 5 minutes in French.
  • 😄 Don't worry about making mistakes or having a strong accent. Everyone has to start somewhere!
  • 🤝 Encourage your partner to keep going and give constructive feedback. Support each other.
💡 Pro tip: Before your session, review the French Basics page to brush up on common greetings and phrases.
