Lingua Bud is a marketplace connecting passionate language instructors with motivated students from around the globe. Whether you are a native speaker, a certified language teacher, or a seasoned language learner yourself, we would love to have you on our platform.

As a Lingua Bud instructor, you set your own rates, choose the languages you teach, define your availability, and build your student base—all while keeping 90% of every lesson you earn. Lingua Bud retains a 10% platform fee to cover payment processing, platform maintenance, and student support.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome instructors from all backgrounds. We look for people who are:

• Fluent or native speakers of the language(s) they intend to teach.
• Patient, encouraging, and communicative — great instructors create a safe and motivating environment for learners at any level.
• Reliable — students book time in their schedules for you. We expect instructors to honor confirmed bookings or cancel with adequate notice.
• Professional — instructors represent Lingua Bud and are expected to conduct lessons in a respectful, safe, and appropriate manner at all times.
• 18 years of age or older.

You do not need a formal teaching certificate to apply, though prior teaching or tutoring experience is a plus. What matters most is your ability to communicate clearly, engage students, and help them make real progress.

How the Application Process Works

We are currently building out our formal instructor application review system. Here is what the process looks like and what to expect:

Step 1 — Create Your Account

Sign up for a free Lingua Bud account. You will need a valid email address. Once registered, navigate to your Instructor Dashboard to begin setting up your profile.

Step 2 — Complete Your Instructor Profile

Your profile is the first thing prospective students see. A complete, compelling profile leads to more bookings. You will be asked to provide:

• Full name — your real name, as it will appear to students.
• Profile photo — a clear, professional photo of your face. Avatars or logos are not accepted.
• Languages you speak and teach — specify which languages you are offering lessons in, and your fluency level in each.
• Bio — a short personal introduction. Tell students about your background, your teaching style, and why you love languages.
• Your lesson rate — set the price per lesson in your preferred currency. You can update this at any time.
• Introduction video — a short video (1–3 minutes recommended) where you introduce yourself, demonstrate your communication style, and tell potential students what they can expect from a lesson with you. This is one of the most important parts of your profile.

Step 3 — Profile Review

Once your profile is submitted, our team reviews it to ensure it meets Lingua Bud's quality and community standards. We check that:

• Your information is accurate and complete.
• Your profile photo and introduction video are appropriate and professional.
• Your bio is clearly written and helpful to students.
• You appear to be a fluent or native speaker of the language(s) you have listed.

You will receive an email at the address on your account once the review is complete. Most profiles are reviewed within 3–5 business days. If we have questions or need additional information, we will reach out to you at support@linguabud.com.

Step 4 — Set Up Payments

Once approved, you will connect a Stripe account to receive lesson payouts. Lingua Bud uses Stripe Connect to securely send instructor earnings directly to your bank account. You will need to complete Stripe's identity verification as part of this process. Stripe's requirements are set by Stripe and may include government-issued ID verification depending on your country.

Step 5 — Set Your Availability and Start Teaching

Once payments are set up, set your weekly availability in your dashboard so students can book lessons with you. You will receive email notifications for new bookings and messages.

Instructor Standards & Conduct

All instructors on Lingua Bud are expected to uphold the following standards:

• Conduct all lessons in a respectful, professional, and encouraging manner.
• Honor confirmed bookings. If you must cancel, do so as early as possible via the platform.
• Keep your profile information accurate and up to date.
• Never solicit personal contact information from students or attempt to conduct lessons outside of the Lingua Bud platform.
• Abide by all terms set out in our Terms & Conditions.

Instructors found to be in violation of these standards may have their listing suspended or permanently removed from the platform.

Earnings & Payouts

• You set your own rate per lesson in your preferred currency.
• You keep 90% of every lesson. Lingua Bud retains a 10% platform fee.
• Payouts are handled by Stripe Connect and deposited to your connected bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule.
• Refunds for cancellations follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Instructor-initiated cancellations result in a full student refund with no payout to the instructor for that session.
