Lingua Bud is a marketplace connecting passionate language instructors with motivated students from around the globe. Whether you are a native speaker, a certified language teacher, or a seasoned language learner yourself, we would love to have you on our platform.

As a Lingua Bud instructor, you set your own rates, choose the languages you teach, define your availability, and build your student base—all while keeping 85% of every lesson you earn. Lingua Bud retains a 15% commission to cover payment processing, platform maintenance, and student support.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome instructors from all backgrounds. We look for people who are:

• Fluent or native speakers of the language(s) they intend to teach.
• Patient, encouraging, and communicative — great instructors create a safe and motivating environment for learners at any level.
• Reliable — students book time in their schedules for you. We expect instructors to honor confirmed bookings or cancel with adequate notice.
• Professional — instructors represent Lingua Bud and are expected to conduct lessons in a respectful, safe, and appropriate manner at all times.
• 18 years of age or older.

You do not need a formal teaching certificate to apply, though prior teaching or tutoring experience is a plus. What matters most is your ability to communicate clearly, engage students, and help them make real progress.

How the Application Process Works

Applying to become an instructor on Lingua Bud is straightforward. Here is exactly what to expect from start to finish:

Step 1 — Submit Your Application

Click the Apply to Become an Instructor button on this page. You will be taken directly to the application form — no account needed beforehand. As part of the application you will create your Lingua Bud account (email and password) and provide the following information:

• Full name — your real name, as it will appear to students.
• Profile photo — a clear, professional photo of your face. Avatars or logos are not accepted.
• Languages you speak and teach — specify which languages you are offering lessons in.
• Country and time zone — so students can find instructors in compatible time zones.
• Your lesson rate — set the price per lesson in your preferred currency.
• Teaching experience and style — a brief description of your background and how you approach teaching.
• Introduction video — a short video (1–3 minutes recommended) where you introduce yourself and demonstrate your communication style. This is one of the most important parts of your application.

Once you submit the form, your account is created automatically and your application is sent to our team for review.

Step 2 — Application Review

Our team carefully reviews every application to ensure it meets Lingua Bud’s quality and community standards. We check that:

• Your information is accurate and complete.
• Your profile photo and introduction video are appropriate and professional.
• Your teaching description is clearly written and helpful to prospective students.
• You appear to be a fluent or native speaker of the language(s) you have listed.

You will receive an email notification once the review is complete letting you know whether your application has been approved or rejected within 3–5 business days. If we have questions or need additional information, we will reach out at support@linguabud.com.

Step 3 — Set Up a Payment Method (upon approval)

Once your application is approved, you will connect a payout method from your Dashboard. Lingua Bud supports two options:

• Stripe Connect — Connect your Stripe account to receive payouts directly to your bank account on Stripe’s standard schedule. Stripe requires identity verification, which may include a government-issued ID depending on your country. Best for instructors in the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia.
• Wise — If Stripe is not available in your country, you can use Wise. Simply enter your Wise email address in your Dashboard. Lingua Bud will batch your earnings and send a single weekly transfer to your Wise account every Sunday.

You must connect at least one payment method before your profile becomes active and students can book lessons with you.

Step 4 — Set Your Availability and Start Teaching

Once payments are set up, set your weekly availability in your instructor dashboard so students can book lessons with you. You will receive email notifications for new bookings and messages. Your profile will now be publicly visible to students on the platform.

Instructor Standards & Conduct

All instructors on Lingua Bud are expected to uphold the following standards:

• Conduct all lessons in a respectful, professional, and encouraging manner.
• Honor confirmed bookings. If you must cancel, do so as early as possible via the platform.
• Keep your profile information accurate and up to date.
• Never solicit personal contact information from students or attempt to conduct lessons outside of the Lingua Bud platform.
• Abide by all terms set out in our Terms & Conditions.

Instructors found to be in violation of these standards may have their listing suspended or permanently removed from the platform.

Earnings & Payouts

• You set your own rate per lesson in your preferred currency (minimum $5 per lesson).
• Standard instructors keep 85% of every lesson. Lingua Bud retains a 15% commission to cover payment processing, platform maintenance, and student support.
• ★ Founding Instructor Benefit: The first 50 approved instructors receive a lifetime 10% commission rate—keeping 90% of every lesson they ever teach on Lingua Bud.
• Student platform fee: A flat $1 convenience fee is added to each booking. This fee is collected by the platform and is separate from your lesson earnings.
• Payouts are made via Stripe Connect (direct bank deposit on Stripe’s standard schedule) or Wise (weekly batch every Sunday). You choose your preferred method from your Dashboard.
• Refunds for cancellations follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Instructor-initiated cancellations result in a full student refund with no payout to the instructor for that session.
